With unique history and culture, differences in architecture let alone landscape from country to country, incredible food and local cultures, they are well worth visiting! It is a more expensive to visit North European countries in general, and it is important to note that they get colder than South European countries so it takes some preparation ahead of time to make sure you’ll be comfortable there!  The best months to visit are between March and July, but with proper layers and a combination of outdoor and indoor activities, you can also have and experience between colors and crisp air during the Fall season.

Here are 3 North European countries to visit this Fall:

1) Iceland

Iceland has become an increasingly popular tourist destination over the last few years and Fall is a great time to go, when it’s not quite high season of the summer months and you beat the cold winter lows. It is a quieter time for a visit, and if you are visiting here to explore the natural beauty of Iceland this can really add to the experience of visiting here. If you have seen any travel marketing materials or tourist photos from Iceland, you have surely seen one if its standout activities/places to go which is the famous Blue Lagoon. You can easily reserve your dates ahead of time via the booking at Blue Lagoon page online and lock in a visit, stay at the hotel and even spa visit as desired. Overall, Iceland is known for its incredible natural landscapes, and you can visit the Vatnajökull National Park, Westfjords and Hraunfossar Waterfall, geysers, ice caves and more here – just be sure to pack plenty of layers and be prepared for any weather situation!

2) Norway

With its influence from the Viking history as well as own version of Nordic culture, Norway is a destination famous for its Norwegian fjords and chance of seeing the Northern Lights. Though it’s not just the beauty of the fjords here that you’ll love! You can see ice caves, Pulpit Rock, breathe in the fresh air, see and know you are surrounded by plenty of incredible wildlife such as wild reindeer, and eat delicious food like mutton and lamb stew.

3) Estonia

Located near the Baltic Sea, Estonia has a lot to offer as so much has been protected through historical and cultural preservation. You can visit Tallinn, a capital that has the old and the new, see the seaside villages like Parnu, and explore the beautiful castles and manor houses located throughout the country. Be prepared for fluctuations in temperature during Fall in Estonia and pack for all weather circumstances. It can feel frigidly cold here when the temperatures drop and while you can always pop in for a warm beverage, you’ll be grateful you packed that extra layer vs. not!

Have you ever been to any of these North European countries? If so, what was your experience like and would you recommend going there?
