With the summer holidays in full swing, you’re probably starting to wonder how you’re going to keep the kids entertained for the next 6 weeks. Depending on their age children can be quite demanding in terms of entertainment so here are some fun summer holiday activities the whole family can join in with.
Family Games Night
We’re all used to electronics, gadgets and devices but it can be really fun to go a bit ‘old-school’ and have family games night. This allows you to get together and play board games; without the distraction of phone notifications disrupting your play.
We’ve recently been sent some cards from Aura Print – they can spring your own cards but also offer the chance to have a personalised playing card box made – so you can enjoy a game of cards with your own family-designed cards, how fun!
What we loved about the cards from Aura print was that it is such a simple game, which means anyone can join in. We plan on taking these on our stacyation with us later in the summer – the seaside theme will be perfect for playing a few games in the evening when we’re relaxing and winding down for the night.
Come Dine With Me
Depending on the age of your children, a come dine with me style family competition can be fun. Of course, we’re not suggesting you leave them in the kitchen unsupervised but getting them to design their own menus, choose how they want the table decorated and be in charge of the entertainment for the evening – as well as helping with the cooking can be really fun. You can stretch this out over a couple of weeks with a competition finale on the night when the overall winner is chosen.
Cinema at Home
Watching a film at home can be really fun, but why not make it make a cinema night to add to the atmosphere? You can get in some popcorn and snacks – the children could even design cinema tickets if they wanted. Get all the duvets and covers down onto the sofa and you can all snuggle up for a night in front of your favourite films – fun for the whole family.
Treasure Hunt
Why not invent your own treasure hunt and get your kids on the lookout for what they can spot whilst you are out and about? These could be random but simple things that you’re likely to see on your stroll – a brown dog, a red car, a lady wearing a yellow hat etc. Get them ticking off what they have seen and see who can spot the most things on the list by the time you get home.
