There are somethings that are really difficult to deal with within a relationship, but for many fertility problems come top of the list. There is so much pressure put on us to have children & sometimes we put that pressure on ourselves too; so when things don’t go to plan it can be hard to know how to deal with things.
Communication
Proxeed has recently put together The Art of Trying – a campaign that looks at some of the problems that can occur within a relationship when it comes to fertility problems. Of course, the upset of not being able to have a baby as planned is plenty but this can also cause tension between the two in a relationship, money worries if you’re seeking fertility treatment and even strain in the bedroom. The Art of Trying looks at all of these issues and how communication can really help. When we’re in a partnership we should tackle problems as a team – but this doesn’t always feel possible when it’s something as big as trying for a baby.
Not Being Too Hard On Yourself
If you’re in a relationship and being able to start a family isn’t going as you planned then it can be hard to know where to turn – and how not to blame yourself. The truth is that everyone’s journey through infertility is different and you shouldn’t be too hard on yourself. Everyone copes in different ways but it is important to ensure that you don’t blame yourself. The Art of Trying campaign also looks at how couples should/could discuss when to seek help for their problems conceiving. Everyone conceives at a different rate and not everyone gets pregnant straight away – that doesn’t always mean there is an issue. If it is taking longer than expected to get pregnant then it can be hard to know when to seek medical help – and this can be a sticking point within relationships.
The truth is that there are no right or wrong ways for navigating fertility – but communication with your loved one and seeking the right type of help is definitely one way to make things a little easier.
