Spring Cleaning in December – We tend to reserve the term Spring cleaning for exactly that, cleaning in Spring. However, there is nothing to stop us from having a big clean and declutter at any time of the year. In fact, for many people the thought of having Christmas and going into the New Year with a super clean house is exactly what they need – so let’s look at Spring cleaning in December.
Why Have a Big Clean at The End of the Year
Most of us can’t go a day or two without doing some sort of housework, so this isn’t about leaving your cleaning until December. Instead, it’s about taking time to do all those jobs you have been putting off and give everything a super clean. So cleaning under beds, hoovering under the sofa, wiping down behind radiators etc. It’s about decluttering and getting the house feeling as fresh and clean as possible. You can of course do this at any time of the year, although traditionally people have enjoyed this task as a spring clean. Personally, we love the thought of doing into 2022 with a fresh, clean house and so we’ll be spending some time this month going a big clean. It means that we can socialise over Christmas and New Year without worry – that’s not to say we won’t have another big clean up in Spring too!
Tips For Easy Cleaning
The best thing you can do is come up with a rough plan first – personally, we like to start a room at a time, being able to shut the door on a room knowing it is done feels great because we get to tick that off our list. The only thing we do is leave all of the floors that need mopping to end, so there aren’t wet floors here, there and everywhere. Get yourself a bucket of decent cleaning products, plenty of cloths and warm soapy water. We like to choose a day that is bright and dry, so we can have all of the windows open at the time – it helps with everything feeling clean and fresh. We like to have a banging playlist on the go too; so we can blast out some tunes as we clean which really helps with motivation.
Getting Everyone Involved
There is little point slogging your guts out to get everything clean if the other people in the house are just going to come behind you and make your life hard. Instead, get everyone in the household involved and make sure they all know the plan. Children can be in charge of cleaning their own room and having a sort out of their own stuff; although some bribery often helps this to happen much more efficiently.
