When working from home for more than just the odd day at a time then it really is important that you invest in your workspace to make it comfortable. Not only do you need to be comfortable when sitting for long periods of time but it can help you to be more productive too – here are some ways to be comfortable when working from home.

When Working From Home: Invest in a Decent Desk

We were recently invited to test out a height-adjustable desk from Flexispot and it genuinely made such a difference to our work set-up. Firstly, it was nice to have a dedicated desk rather than just being perched on the dining table amongst everyone else’s stuff. A couple of us share the desk throughout the working week so the fact it is SO EASILY height adjustable means that it is possible for everyone to be comfortable when working from home.

It took a couple of us to put it together, but that is mostly because it is heavy and bulky rather than being complex to put together. The 8-in-1 standing desk that we tried out had a couple of really handy features too – a wireless charging point built into the desktop and wire tidy shelves under the desk to keep everything out of the way.

Wireless charging is fast becoming the new way to charge your devices, it’s simple and effective. None of us enjoys the hassle of trying to get a charging lead to connect, wireless charging removes this issue completely.

When Working From Home: Temperature Control

If this week’s weather has shown anything it’s that we need to think about temperature control when we’re working from home. The 8-in-1 Flexispot desk that we have recently set up has plenty of room, so we have a Chillmax air small desktop fan next to our laptop, so we can switch that on when needed. During the winter I tend to favour being cosy – so a blanket over my knees works great when I want to be warm when working from home.

When Working From Home: Making it Nice

It is all well and good going through the practical steps – being the right temperature, investing in a decent desk & even the right seating but you also want it to be a nice place to work – think about desk storage, what stationery you might need if you want any artwork on the walls etc. You want it to be a space where you are happy to sit at and spend your time – so that you can be as happy and productive as possible.

When Working From Home

With a little thought and care, working from home in a well-adapted space can change your whole life, bringing fluid ease to work and giving you all the benefits to your own lifestyle outside working hours. Getting the best value often comes down to implementing suitable changes and enabling a viable working space quickly so you can start to reap the benefits without delay.

We often forget our health when we are working, but spending time at an unsuitable desk can seriously compromise our health. Avoiding back strain and other problems can be as easy as ensuring your desk is at a suitable being to make working from home comfortable and effective.

Don’t forget to include some time in your day for exercise as working from home can affect your health through lack of exercise, indeed taking this exercise outdoors when possible is a great idea as spending too long indoors can be mentally draining.

If you have any tips on ways to be comfortable when working from home we’d love you to share them
