If you have woken up today to snow on the ground then you would definitely be forgiven for spending today on Google looking up a luxury safari in South Africa or some other similar holiday that gets you in the warm. The truth is that we’re a good few months away from serious sunshine in the UK and so seeking out a holiday in warmer climates is a good idea!

The good news is that international travel is now pretty much open as normal, which means that wherever you fancy going and whatever sort of holiday in the sun you desire, you should be able to find something that ticks the boxes without too much trouble. However, with icy fingers and thoughts of a cold, dark school run often comes booking holidays in haste and that’s definitely not recommended.
If you are looking to do something like booking a safari holiday then doing some research first and taking a sensible approach is most definitely the best way forward.

It is all well and good saying you want to go on a safari holiday, but there are different areas that these are offered in – and they all offer a different experience. It is essential that you look into where you would like to go before you get booking. Researching potential locations, what they offer and what you can do while you are there helps to ensure that you have the best possible holiday.
When it comes to international travel, we all have different needs. For example, you might want to visit a private game reserve in Africa or you might want a trip that involves more than one location. There are plenty of choices out there, the trick is to research your options and ensure that whatever you book best suits the needs of you and the people you are travelling with.
Booking a Safari Holiday: When You Want to Visit
The time of year can make a massive difference to what you see while you are there – although if you’re looking at an African safari there are no bad times to visit. The start of the year is when you’ll see the most rain in this part of the world. That said, because of the rain it’s often the quietest time of the year so you can take advantage of this and grab a bargain. You’ll see lush greenery and even some new animals being born, which is incredible.
Once you hit May most of Africa becomes dry, so you’ll get a very different experience than the beginning of the year. However, peak time isn’t until June and July, so if you visit in May you’ll find it is still reasonably quiet while you are there. August to October is dry and the busiest time of the year to visit – so expect to have plenty of other tourists there while you are.
This is the hottest time of the year too, so make sure you pack and prepare accordingly.
November and December are still warm, but it is when the rain starts so you’ll see lots of newborn animals and even birds starting to migrate.
Booking a Safari Holiday: Where You Want To Stay
Much like any other holiday you book, there is a range of accommodation choices for you to pick from. Many ranges and national parks have lodges and huts within their grounds which allows you to feel as though you really are in the heart of Africa. Places like Singita Faru Faru Lodge and Abu Camp offer some amazing luxury accommodations if you really want to treat yourself to the trip of a lifetime.
You’ll find lodges that are on the water, some that overlook busy waterholes and even some that offer 5* accommodation where you are pampered and looked after the whole time – there really is something for everyone.
