There is something about just sitting next to a body of water whilst the sun shines down that just feels most people with such joy. However, in order to make the most of your relaxing day at the beach here are some top tips to ensure you have everything you could possibly need. Here are some top tips for getting ready for a day at the beach.
Bring something for shade
This is very important if you have young children or babies as finding a shaded spot can prove very difficult especially as the sun moves around throughout the day. You should ensure you pack plenty of sun hats but if you are planning to stay on the beach for a full day then I would suggest buying sunscreen or a sun umbrella, to provide some shade to you all day long.
Plenty of towels
Always bring plenty of towels, including as many spares as you can carry. If you have children they will be in and out of the water so towels get wet very quickly so I would definitely make sure you have plenty of spares so that you always have a dry towel available. We would normally suggest 2 per person, this is the perfect amount allowing plenty of spares.
Spare bags
When it comes to the end of the day and all your kid’s toys are filled with sand, your clothes are wet through and you’ve swapped your sandals for shoes you will want somewhere to separate this wet dirty stuff from everything else. Having some spare bags to put this all into will make things a lot easier to keep things separate for you.
Bring a cooler with drinks and food
During the summer, the beaches become busy quickly so it can be hard to decide where the best spot to sit is. If you bring a cooler with you with plenty
of food and drink throughout the day this can mean you can sit closer to the water and further away from the amenities. It will also mean you will spend less money constantly going to get the children more snacks and drinks. If you freeze your drinks, and fruit overnight this will cool in the cool box during the day and make them perfect to enjoy under the hot sun. Make sure you pack plenty of napkins and drinks to last you throughout the day.
Sunscreen
An absolute essential even if you want a tan. We would recommend a higher SPF for children but even adults should sure ensure they have some protection against the sun, this will not stop you from getting a tan. Also, I would recommend making sure the sunscreen is water-resistant so you don’t have to keep reapplying every time you go in and out of the water.

What to wear?
Always make sure you have plenty of layers on. There are many dresses for women available that go perfectly over a bikini or swimsuit which offers you plenty of protection if the sun gets too hot or if the wind picks up so you do not get windburn. Sandals are the perfect shoe to wear for walking about so that you do not constantly have to stand and tip the sand out of your shoe. Ensure you have packed hats and sunglasses to ensure you are protected from the bright sun and consider bringing a light cardigan or throw to wear after when you will start to feel a bit chilled after sitting in the hot sun all day.
Finally yet importantly bring your favourite book, beach toys, and just relax on your holidays!
